A lot of students question themselves about the future after graduating from university. What is the best fitting job for me? What is the business industry I want to work in? How to start my own business? These questions and many more can leave us feeling stuck and unsure of how to move forward. Amidst a vague understanding of finding the right job, many fresh graduates grab any job offer available in order to secure themselves from possible financial hardship. However, it quite often leads to a job we do not necessarily like and that does not contribute to personal development and self-improvement.
Perhaps there is no suitable job for us because we are destined to pursue our own project and to create these jobs for others?
In today’s story, we would like to roll out this topic by sharing Kevin Jardim’s experience about starting his own business while still being a student.
In higher semesters of his studies, like many other students, Kevin started questioning himself about his future professional life. He tried to get a clear understanding of which job would be a perfect match for his skills and personal qualities.
It is difficult to know what you really want to do as a young adult. Most students don’t feel prepared for life after university based on what they learn in their respective studies. Many students then go on to pick not necessarily the job that they really want, but rather, a job based on the options available to them.
Kevin himself has applied for many jobs in the past and has experienced firsthand the difficulties of the application process. However, these experiences helped Kevin to realize that his future lies in entrepreneurship.
In life, you can either help other people to build their dreams or try to build your own. I really want to live a life where I pursue things I am passionate about.

In the world of startups, surrounding yourself with the right people is fundamental to your business’ growth and success. Kevin emphasizes the tremendous importance of finding like-minded motivated partners who are ready to share the risks involved in a startup and to contribute their energy and ideas to the common goal. “University is a great place to meet new people and network with talented individuals”. It was through university that Kevin was able to find his business partner. Maksym Rohovskoi studies in the same study program and shares the same values of self-improvement and personal development as Kevin does. The importance of having the right partner(s) is not only about sharing risks and responsibilities, it is also about support and motivation to help push each other forward. These qualities oftentimes you can find in your close friends and family. Fortunately, this was the case for Kevin and Maksym.
After coming to an understanding that they wanted to try to work together on something, they decided to start by asking their friends about the challenges that they were facing in their lives. “If you can think about problems that you are facing in your own life and see if those same problems occur also for your friends, chances are that this may be potentially a good business idea to create a solution for”. Kevin and Max interviewed many of their friends to find out the problems they might have in common. And this problem appeared to be uncertainty about future jobs and the bias of companies during the selection procedure.
To solve this problem Kevin and Maksym came up with a new concept of recruiting in their startup Yokify.

The idea of the startup is to find suitable employees through projects which simulate the skills and abilities that are required for the actual job. Yokify plays an intermediary role by providing companies with a platform to post short projects, and allowing job seekers to apply for jobs by doing the short projects they are interested in. Yokify ensures a sufficient level of anonymity through masking personal information about candidates which could potentially influence the bias of employers and therefore a final recruitment decision.

"Our company aims to provide fair employment chances to all people regardless of ethnicity, gender, age, or any other thing that may cause the bias. We want to change the way companies recruit by placing a focus on the most important thing, proven performance".
At the same time, the concept provides candidates with an objective understanding of tasks they would perform at the job they are applying for. This helps candidates to realize if the job is really something they want to do. If you are searching for a job and want to try a non-biased alternative, then check out Yokify where you can sign up for the demo.
As a final accord, we would like to provide you with parting words from Kevin regarding future challenges life prepares for you:
“Life is too short. If you are passionate about something, you should pursue it. There will always be risks but I would rather take the risk and fail than play it safe and wonder what could have been. If you are a student or young adult, now more than ever is the time to take risks, and find and surround yourself with the right people!”.
Stay motivated and hungry for success!
Yours truly,
Bonis Rebus team
