We are happy to share with you, guys, a successful story of a close friend of ours, who decided to follow his passion and to concentrate his energy and resources to make his dreams come true. One day, Koray was enlightened to dedicate himself to music and to become a professional in the music industry.
After two years, it’s very interesting to talk to Koray and to find out, how this decision changed his life and how was the way to reach his first goals.
What was the motive to go for music production?
An initial idea of Koray was to work on himself and to own the business he likes and is passionate about. He tried himself in many areas such as insurance, cryptocurrency, stock investing. However, he did not feel himself really belonging to any business fields he tried himself in.
And one day, he woke up and had a clear idea, what he wants to do in his life, and this idea was Music. “It was a magical moment”, says Koray, because such a passion and inspiration he had never felt in his life before.
Interesting fact, that his knowledge about music was on the level of a casual listener, without any educational background, which could be helpful to proceed with this idea.
“I believe in unconscious mind, and that deep in our mind we already know, what we really want to do and what we are good at. But we are just afraid sometimes to admit that and choose things under influence of others.
We do not want to clear up our mind and to brainstorm ourselves, in order to figure the right way out. We think that we know what to do, but the reality is different. And once we suspect the right way, it takes a lot of courage to accept it and to work on it. I am really happy that I found the right way, the courage, the strength!”
What did make it sure that the endeavor would work out?
Koray’s experience says that believing in yourself, 100% of dedication and passion for the thing you do together make each case bound to succeed. “Spontaneous things are always coming to driven people and fortune smiles to those, who are aiming it”, says Koray.
How was the start? Was it so difficult, that sometimes you wanted to quit?
The idea to deal with music was certainly clear to Koray. But what exactly to do with the music he did not have a clue, what made it for him very difficult at the beginning. Things were developing step by step and Koray was ready for this. It took some time to learn, to gain enough information, in order to understand what he is good at and which music branch is fitting his inner energy the best. The next hinder for Koray was the absence of any network and people to ask advice from.
“I say that there is nothing nowadays you cannot learn.
Nowadays, we got an abundance of information and learning resources available free of charge, to become proficient at everything we want. Therefore, searching and learning from the Internet helped to determine my way in music and to make essential steps in music production”, says Koray.
Normally, at the threshold of the music industry there are three the most popular choices for people, who want to deal with music:
· Mixing already given music samples;
· Making new beats;
· Becoming an artist and performing music.
Among these given options, Koray felt that the best fit for him would be making beats. “I like the hip-hop industry and the variety of music it offers. Everyone can find a tune he likes and what drives him up. The essential part of each soundtrack is beat. Then lyrics come on top of it. Maybe later on, I would try myself in performing. But making beats drives me really high. The moment I feel that it is working out and I like my beat brings me euphoria every single time. The best motivation for me is to see that people admire my beats. No money can substitute this”, says Koray.
How was the learning of making beats?
Koray didn’t have any learning background in music. Also, he didn’t have any friends, who were making beats, to ask for advice. The whole thing about how to make beats relied solely on him. “Everything I learned about making beats I found on the Internet. The main learning resource was YouTube channels. I was spending around 5 hours daily, watching tutoring videos about the process of making beats”.
How does your music production look like nowadays?
Nowadays Koray tries to connect each minute of his time with making music. We were wondering how Koray’s typical day looks like, and Koray gave us a very good insight.
His day starts with meditation, to get to a positive state of mind. Then, he determines goals for a day he needs to reach. He does a walk in the morning to fresh up before actually starting to work with music equipment. Daily he spends about 7 hours working with music equipment, networking, and arranging some other business things.
Nowadays Koray is registered as an artist freelancer in Germany. He has his own website, where he publishes and sells his beats; an accountant who is in charge of his profit taxation; and an illustrator, who is taking care of the graphic design of his website.
Did you feel yourself on the edge of giving up at the beginning?
Koray says that he feels very frustrated sometimes even nowadays, if a nice beat doesn’t come up for a
long time. “The biggest frustration happens, when I spent a lot of time working on a beat and it’s not good at the end. It pushes me down really a lot. But the way up doesn’t have only ups. A lot of downs happen too. We cannot quit or abandon what we love. We must fight for that every day. So, do I for my music, for my love, for my passion”.
What is the biggest success so far?

Koray says, that when we take into consideration common music industry measurements to estimate success, then the biggest success is his beat developed for rapper’s Lil Lano soundtrack “KEIN GRUND”, which has already got more than 3 million views on YouTube. Overall, Koray's business runs well.
He has a quite broad network, including successful producers and singers. Monthly he gets profit, which is enough to cover all his expenses and spend vocation, where he wants. But from Koray’s subjective perspective, the biggest success he got is to do professionally what he really loves and what his passion is about.
“Imagine the best life you can have. The best life for me is making music and bringing people joy through this”, says Koray.
Which goals are you pursuing nowadays?
He says that his main goal remains the same - “Making great music people love to listen to”. Meanwhile, he would like to make five soundtracks known all over Germany in the next 2 years and to get collaboration with nationally known artists. In the long-term perspective, Koray wants to found his own label, to sign talented artists, and to get success in the American music industry.
Which advice you can give guys, who want to produce music?
“The main advice I have is to be ready to fail and to stand up. The beginning is always the hardest and requires a lot of patience and effort. Failures are a common thing even in case of successful music producers. I know that it’s very frustrating when it doesn’t work out as expected. But never give up. Each failure gives you a lesson and learning experience you will get better through. Also, don’t compare your music and style to other artists.
"Everyone is different and unique, so follow your muse and create what you feel is beautiful. You can do it!!!”.
